ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ

The Student Development Programme is a mandatory unit and part of each year of the BSc Public Health. During the unit you will develop a variety of skills to explicitly support you across the programme. In the first year the SDP is designed to connect you with the university, while simultaneously facilitating your individual goals to develop the skills you will use to study well as you transition into higher studies.  

The unit includes a series of seminars over the year and accompanying online resources. You will see the seminars in your online timetable. The seminars include a combination of interactive student seminars and guest lectures. The SDP is an integral part of each of the three years of the Public Health Programme. 

The Student Development Programme unit is a mandatory unit and part of each year of the BSc Public Health. The aims of the unit are to:  

• Develop individual academic confidence and awareness at ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ and to feel settled into higher education study.  
• Support you in identifying what you do well and where you can develop new skills through setting academic goals.
• Generate thinking about the career potential of a public health qualification. 

We want you to get the most out of the unit and to do that we use a variety of trusted learning methods:

• Whole group activities and discussions in seminars that may include smaller group working.
• Learning from your peers, sharing work and providing feedback.
• Online recordings or podcasts will be available to refer to following seminars.  
• Prior to seminars slides and materials will be available in the central learning environment.
• Online resources to work through  
• Ongoing guidance and support from the course unit lead and your academic advisor.
