Entry requirements
ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ welcomes a large volume of applications from Indian students each year. General minimum entry requirements for Indian applicants are summarised below.
Please carefully check the specific requirements for your chosen programme prior to application.
A-Levels/International Baccalaureate (IB)
If you are studying A-levels or the IB then you can apply for direct entry to the first year of an undergraduate/bachelor’s degree.
Typical grade requirements:
- A-levels: A*A*A – ABB
- IB: 34-41 points, with 7, 7, 7 – 6, 5, 5 in Higher Level (HL) subjects
Subject specific requirements may apply.
Indian Standard XII Higher Secondary School Certificates
National Boards
Students completing Higher Secondary School Certificates at the end of CBSE/ISC Standard XII will usually be considered for direct entry to the first year of undergraduate courses provided they have achieved a minimum of 80-95% overall. The specified minimum requirement varies depending on the chosen programme of study. For further information contact the International Office.
Students achieving an overall Standard XII grade of 70% or higher (with a minimum of 75% in Mathematics and Physics and 65% in English) would be considered for the University’s Science and Engineering with an integrated foundation year programme. Applications for the University’s Biosciences with a foundation year programme would be considered following completion of the Standard XII HSC on a case by case basis.
State Boards
We will also consider applications for direct entry to the first year of undergraduate programmes from the following State Boards only, provided that a minimum score of 80-95% overall is achieved:
Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat
Applicants from State Boards will not be considered for Medicine.
Students who have achieved an overall Standard XII grade of 65% or higher from exam boards that are not listed above would be considered for the foundation programmes (Engineering and Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (including Management and Law), Biosciences, Pharmacy and Psychology) run in partnership with the University by INTO ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ.

PG Taught Master’s Courses (MSc, MA, MRes)
Students who have completed a minimum of a three-year degree and who have obtained First Class from a reputable university are considered for postgraduate study. The minimum requirement typically ranges from 60-80% overall, depending on the quality of the university of prior study and grading scale.

MBA
The ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ MBA requires a minimum of three years’ professional work experience. Please read the full MBA entry requirements. ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ offers a range of one year master's programmes that offer an attractive alternative to academically well-qualified students without suitable work experience.
PhD
Students who have completed a minimum of a three-year degree and who have obtained First Class at a reputable university (or have completed a three-year degree with First Class, and also obtained a master's, both from reputable universities) are considered for PhDs.
PhDs/Postgraduate research degrees are individually supervised. We strongly recommend that prospective applicants make initial enquiries with the potential supervisor or academic school before submitting a formal application. A research proposal is required along with your formal application.
English language requirements
All international students coming to study in the UK on a Student Route visa are required to demonstrate their proficiency in English language. The minimum English language requirements for each programme are specified on the course description.
We accept a range of global English tests (eg IELTS, TOEFL iBT). In addition, we may be able to accept English from Indian Standard XII exams, depending on the Board and overall score achieved. Confirmation that English was the mode of instruction at your university is not accepted as evidence that you meet the requirements.

Study abroad
If you are currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student at any accredited university or college of higher education outside of the UK, you can apply to spend a semester or full year here at ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ.
We offer year/semester abroad programmes as well as participating in a number of exchange partnerships with key European and worldwide universities. Most students joining us for study abroad do so in their third year (of a four-year degree) although we do also accept applications from second- and final-year students.
Minimum entry requirements for study abroad students are a 60% average.
Finance
A number of Indian national and state government scholarships are available to students from specific states or backgrounds; please note that state government scholarships are not acceptable as financial evidence for the purposes of student visa applications.
Each award comprises £10,000 for the first year of study with a further £10,000 in the second and third years.
Continuation of the award is conditional on attainment of 60% in exams and assessments each year. Scholarships will be awarded as a discount on published international tuition fees.
You must be taking one of the following qualifications: A-level, IB or Indian Standard XII (CBSE, CISCE, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat).
Scholarships will be awarded based on academic excellence, predicted and achieved grades, and your online application form, which will be emailed to all eligible offer-holders.
Awardees will be selected based on academic merit, but we'll try to achieve a balance in the allocation of the awards by gender, domicile, qualification type and course of study.
- Applications will be considered from international fee-paying students domiciled in: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
- To be considered as 'domiciled', you must have predominantly lived there during the last three years.
- We consider your permanent country of residence to be the country in which you're ordinarily resident, not a country where you are only living for full-time education.
You must be applying for direct first-year entry in 2026 and have, or be working towards, one of the following qualifications: Indian Standard XII (CBSE, CISCE, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat), A-levels, IB Diploma.
- Scholarship applications will be assessed on any previous exams, predicted grades in the above-listed qualifications and the strength of the personal statement.
- You must be self-funded (not sponsored).
- You must have selected ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ as your 'Firm' UCAS choice by 25 May 2026.
- The award only applies to full-time courses delivered at ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s UK campus.
Not eligible
- Medicine (MBChB), Dentistry (BDS), Architecture, or any courses with an integrated foundation year.
- Those who've previously studied in the UK.
- Blended and distance learning programmes.
The application form will be emailed automatically to all eligible applicants shortly after an academic offer is made. Forms will not be emailed until December 2025.

We're proud to offer more than 200 merit-based scholarships to prospective international students from a range of countries across the globe.
The value of The Global Futures Scholarships for South Asian students is £10,000. Scholarships will be awarded as a discount on published overseas tuition fees.
Within South Asia, the awards are open to applicants domiciled in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

These scholarships of £10,000 are awarded based on academic excellence and the quality of your online application form.

- You'll be considered based on academic merit and the quality of your application, but we'll try to achieve a balance by gender, domicile and course in the allocation of the awards.
- You must be self-funded (not sponsored).
- The award only applies to full-time courses delivered at ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s UK campus.
Not eligible
- MBA, MPhil, Master of Architecture (MArch), Architecture and Urbanism (MA), Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA), Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Clinical Medicine and Dentistry degrees.
- Some ‘Master’s by Research’ courses are also ineligible (see terms and conditions below).
- Those who've studied a Bachelor’s degree outside of South Asia.

I also signed up to Milkround and was notified of any openings. In December I prepared my CV and started applying to a number of companies.
"Airbus was one company to invite me for the first round of interviews in February, together with three online tests. The final interview took place in March. I was nervous but excited as I knew there would be two in-depth interviews as well as a presentation, which would last all day. From 11 finalists, I was one of two people chosen to start the graduate programme!
"My advice to prospective students is not to lose hope. Getting a job in the UK as an international student is challenging, so you need to start looking straightaway to avoid missing deadlines for applying."

ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s India team at UKIBC
ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s India team at UKIBC can advise and assist with course choices, making an application, and general pre-departure guidance.  The team, based in Delhi NCR and Mumbai, comprises Aprajita Kalra, Principal Adviser and the India Officers Aashna Singh and Panishthi Sheth. All three work closely with the University’s Senior International Officer for India, based in ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ, Dan Herman.
The University has entered into a services agreement with UK India Business Council India Pvt. Ltd (UKIBC), under which UKIBC assists the University with student mobility initiatives and also supports stakeholders with the help of dedicated client service team.
